Ontology reuse
Ontology reusing is an important feature for developing new ontology. This is an easy and time saving approach. For reusing ontology, there is not a single way, we can use domain knowledge, taxonomy, are some part of taxonomy or whole ontology which would be a part of ontology which we are going to develop.
The domain of this is a healthcare organization. There are already Ontologies exist on the healthcare domain. So these Ontologies are really helpful for developing the new ontological model for the time aspects of different activities in the ward. Especially the ontological model [20] of competencies for a healthcare is really helpful for this thesis. The author would like to use the Role and Competence concepts in this thesis form the competency model of a healthcare.
Results
In this thesis, the author wants to handle the time aspects for a healthcare activities which may be happen in predefine interval or happen at any time in general ward or in an emergency ward. The OWL-Time ontology which I explained in section 2.3.3 is really helpful to handle the time aspects of a healthcare organization. In OWL-Time ontology there different concepts are discussed detail wise but the author used only two concepts in this thesis; first one is the Interval and second is Instant. These two concepts of Time ontology are closely related to healthcare activities. Some activities of the ward always have starting point and end point and these always take place with in specifies interval and some take place instantly in a hospital.
No doubt the ontology for Competencies in healthcare area is relevant to this thesis. This competence model also contains different roles for the persons, which are really helpful for this thesis in solving problem of a healthcare area because the author wants to develop an ontological model for the time aspects for different activities of a general ward or emergency ward. To perform activities of a healthcare organization, persons required competencies. So the author decides to reuse some component form ontological model [20] for the competencies of a healthcare organization.
Evaluation of Time Aspect Model
The evaluation is the last step of our purpose method for the ontological model of time aspects. In this step the author evaluates the model of Time Aspects against competency question. There are different ways of the evaluation of the ontological model e.g., discussion with domain experts, SPARQL query, DL query and manually checking of the ontological model against competency questions.
Due to some restriction of protégé tool, the author relies on three method of evaluation i.e., discussion with domain expert, DL-Query and manually checking of ontological model against competency questions. The author makes discussion weekly with supervisor and always tries to improve the ontological model of the Time Aspects according to instructions.
According to manual evaluation, the author also checks the ontology against competency question. The author checks all competency questions against the model one by one manually. He assures that Time Aspect model is proper and well managed with respect to different activities of the hospital. The model always shows the time aspects for different activities. The author is fully satisfied from the ontological model of the Time Aspects for a healthcare organization.
The author also evaluates the ontology through DL-query in protégé 4.0.2 editor. For this evaluation, the author considers competency questions one by one of the healthcare domain and check the authenticity of the query’s results against competencies questions. Due to some restriction on data type, the author is not able to present the time aspects for different activities. The protégé editor 4.0.2 does not run query with data type properties has range as Time.
